To document is to explain.

To explain without explanation.

To move is to communicate.

The film takes a snapshot of three people’s daily lives and their relationship to body, movement, and technology. These snapshots interplay with them interacting with Another for the first time, coming together as a portmanteau.

Poetic, aesthetic, contemplative.

The film emphasises on emotional context: the stories of people and their connection with Another. It’s this emphasis that drives the film’s overall tone: I/Another seeks to explore communication, One After Another seeks to showcase communication.

In the spirit of finding ways to connect beyond words, I believe the film should have little to no dialogue or voiceover. These interactions should speak for themselves; their intentional movement with Another offers the same context as when they walk down the street, or when they tiptoe to reach for a bowl in their kitchen. I want audience to discover meaning instead of the subject spoon-feeding that meaning to them.

Garreth Chan

The interactions featuring Another are suspended in deliberate composition and poetry. The quietude of communication and interaction is captured in a still frame from afar, a photograph. This is a moment between the two of them; how can we possibly intrude?

We are collecting stories of bodily intelligence, moments where movement or intuition shaped a life.
